Practical Life Experiences
Practical Life activities are the foundation of the Montessori environment. These activities are familiar to the children from their home environment and help them to develop concentration, coordination, independence, and a sense of order. Children learn to care for themselves and their environment through activities like food preparation, cleaning, and dressing frames.
×
Mathematics
The Montessori math curriculum is designed to give children a concrete understanding of mathematical concepts. Using hands-on materials like the Golden Beads and Number Rods, children learn about quantity, symbols, and the decimal system. This concrete-to-abstract approach builds a strong foundation and a lifelong love for mathematics.
×
Sensory Awareness
Sensorial materials help children refine their senses and understand the world around them. Materials like the Pink Tower, Brown Stair, and Sound Cylinders isolate specific qualities such as dimension, color, and sound, helping children to order and classify their environment. This work prepares them for more complex learning in math and language.
×
Language & Writing
The Montessori language curriculum is a phonetic-based approach that begins with developing oral language skills and phonological awareness. Children work with Sandpaper Letters to learn the sounds of the alphabet, and then use the Moveable Alphabet to build words. This multi-sensory approach allows writing to precede reading, giving children a natural path to literacy.
×
Creative Arts
Creative expression is integrated throughout the Montessori classroom. Children have daily opportunities for art, music, and dramatic play. The focus is on the process of creation rather than the final product, allowing children to explore their creativity and develop self-expression without fear of judgment.
×
Science
Children are natural scientists, and the Montessori science curriculum encourages their curiosity about the world. Through hands-on experiments and the study of botany, zoology, and physical science, children learn to observe, classify, and think critically. Our outdoor environment and gardening activities provide rich opportunities for real-world scientific exploration.
×
Movement
Movement is essential for learning. The Montessori environment is designed for freedom of movement, allowing children to choose their work and move around the classroom. In addition to this, specific activities are designed to develop fine and gross motor skills, coordination, and body awareness, which are crucial for physical and cognitive development.
